At A Glance

On Saturday, October 24, Destination Peace and the Foundation for the Support of the United Nations premieres the “Hour of World Peace Livestream” in celebration of United Nations Day 2020 and with the goal of raising a collective voice in support of peace.

Using the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals as a blueprint, Destination Peace works to build cross-cultural relationships to achieve a more equitable and sustainable future. As the world continues to mobilize in reaction to the COVID-19 pandemic, the inaugural program seeks to provide an uplifting moment of music and commonality while keeping sight of the core SDG issues of poverty, education, and peaceful coexistence.

“Music is our common language—it transcends boundaries to build understanding and overcome fear and hatred,” says Manny Perlman, founder and CEO of Destination Peace. He continues: “Music, in its transformative, visceral, spiritual nature, exists as a medium by which introspection, inspiration, and change occur. We can create a more peaceful, tolerant world through music.”

Guests include Ambassador Anwarul K. Chowdhury, Sri Mata Amritanandamayi (Amma), Angélique Kidjo, Coral Campopiano, Gordon Bahary, Jeannivée Fiorese, Peter Yarrow, Roma Downey, and Professor William Riley, as well as FSUN President and Executive Chairman Janet Salazar, Destination Peace Board Member Naila Chowdhury, Fashion 4 Development President and Founder Evie Evangelou, San Diego International Film Festival Executive and Artistic Director Tonya Mantooth, and co-hosts Nicole Ryan, of SiriusXM Hits One’s The Morning Mash Up, and Emanuel “Manny Perlman,” founder and CEO of Destination Peace.

The Destination Peace Hour of World Peace Livestream is produced by Destination Peace in collaboration with the Foundation for the Support of the United Nations (FSUN) as well as Women 4 Empowerment, the San Diego International Film Festival, and Fashion 4 Development. The program is designed to support the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
